Noise Mitigation

Flight Environments has mastered an in-depth approach which involves comprehensive acoustic data collection, analysis, and specific dispositions for each different area of each aircraft. Our data collection methods utilize flat-response acoustic microphones that record broad-band (25-10,000Hz) sound levels to calibrated digital audio tape. The time-dependent waveforms are then processed via the Fast Fourier transform into by-frequency and octave-band spectra, which allow us to determine not only the noise level at any specific location in the aircraft, but also its particular behavior.

Aircraft noise may be caused by many sources, including structural and interior vibration, exterior sources, and interior propagation. Each noise source requires special, unique consideration. Consequently, the knowledge gained through careful and accurate analysis can be used very effectively to eliminate a wide variety of noise throughout the aircraft. Using proprietary materials specially optimized for maximum performance with minimal mass, Flight Environments is consistently able to provide superior noise reduction for a fraction of the weight of other products on the market.

High Technology Made Simple:

It has been the company's long standing belief that the best solutions are the simplest ones. While theoretically it's possible to get broad-range noise cancellation from an expensive, heavy, maintenance-intensive active system, these systems are significantly more expensive than Flight Environments products and just can't match our results. It's well known that mid-to-high frequency acoustic signatures are far too complex to cancel even with the best of today's active equipment. Our system is most efficient and effective in this most audible of frequency ranges.
